About Karen Joslin

I've always been an artistic soul, and while I've explored many creative forms, photography and writing are the two which have really stuck with me from childhood. Another artistic passion, acting, earned me a B.A. in Theater at Northwestern University in 1990. After college, I worked in the entertainment industry for 10 years. I honed my writing skills on screenplays while working in film and video production, in office positions, and performing occasionally. Perhaps it's the entertainer in me which drives me to write a lot of humor.

After deciding to leave the entertainment industry, I studied photography at Santa Monica College from 2001-2004. While in school, my fine art print Time Marches On won a merit award from Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County and was published in Best of Photography Annual 2004 (Serbin Communications). Group exhibits featuring my work include Digital Graffiti (Alys Beach, FL, 2009), Hands Off! at The 621 Gallery (Tallahassee, FL, 2007), and an untitled show at Garcia Galleries (Tallahassee, FL, 2006).
In 2006, I served as Editor of the Tallahassee Professional Photographers Guild's monthly newsletter, The Contact Sheet, and on its Board of Directors. I've also been an active member of the Professional Photographers of America since 2003. I stay current on photography trends and techniques through webinars, forums, conventions, workshops, and online courses.
